Critter socks for my son

My son asked me knit something for him. They only pattern I could find for his size was the Critter Socks in Wendy Knits Toe Up Socks for the Whole Family book. I didn´t do the pattern though as the wool was already variegated. He is not really into knitted things, but I think it was the thought that counts. Son Number Two might like them when he gets to that size...

Just in time, I´ve finished these stripey socks for my sister-in-law Evi for Christmas. The wool is Heirloom sock wool, which my mum sent me from Australia. The pattern is the basic sock pattern from Wendy Knits Socks from the Toe Up.

The On-Hold Sock by Wendy Knits

Here are my feet enjoying a happy day at the Short Straw Cafe in Whitemans Valley with the new On Hold Socks I´ve finished. The Pattern is from Wendy Knits Socks from the Toe Up. What a wonderful book this is. There are lots of other patterns in it which I´ll be doing soon. The wool is Regia wool; I´ve forgotten the colourway. Bit scratchier than expected, so I won´t knit this brand of wool again. Now I´m working on the Monkey socks from Cookie A in lovely soft Needlefood Sweet Chilli wool.

Stripey socks

Here are some stripey socks done in Australian Heirloom sock wool (I´ve lost the tag unfortunately, so until I find it I can´t say what colourway it was...) which my lovely mum sent me from Australia as an early birthday present. I finished them this morning. The baby I made last year - very happy with him. The socks are just stockinette stitch (the slip stitch heel sock from the Socks from the Toe Up book) and are the ¨easy¨ socks which I knit when I´m tired or just sitting outside with the chickens etc (when it hasn´t been raining). I´m still working on the blue On Hold Socks from the Socks from the Toe Up book as my ¨tricky¨ sock. which I knit when I have peace and quiet. Next easy sock will be the Spring Forward sock from green Joy of Yarn wool (Winsome Win) for wonderful Jellyspec!

The On-Hold Sock by Wendy Knits

I don´t normally post things half way through, but I´m pretty happy with my first sock after many years of not knitting. It is the On-Hold Sock from the Wendy Knits book ¨Socks from the Toe Up¨. This is a wonderful book. Its next on my queue to buy, although I´ve just bought the Alabama Stitch Book and Alabama Studio Style books (they are coming on their way over from England now!!!), so it´ll be a wait until Christmas for this book, I think. This was a real achievement knitting this - I knitted it about one and a half times, because I misjudged the length of the foot and had to unravel the entire heel and do it again. But it was worth it, of course. My sore wrists are a bit borderline sometimes, but seem to be holding up OK. Also, so many interruptions from small kids, cats, chickens, etc. I´m amazed I was able to keep any pattern at all in my head. I´m very happy with it. Now starting on sock 2.
