Value sketch drafts for Piercy Island painting

Simpler version - no clouds.

 Clouds added.

Would need to redo, but more panoramic format than square. Prefer it to have more ocean showing at front.

Value sketch - Dunedin Peninsula

A value sketch (sketch to figure out the lights and darks) for a future painting of a stone wall on the Dunedin Peninsula. I am wanting it to be a fairly high key painting, with some very dark shadow contrasts, as it will be showing midday light.

Value sketch of Lake Wakatipu

Although I want to concentrate on finishing the previous Catlins painting, over breakfast I did a value sketch (a sketch that concentrates on figuring out the placement of lights and darks), of the sun setting on Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown.

Caitlins sketch

A value sketch for another go at painting the Caitlins Estuary in my previous post. I wanted more of a graphic look to the painting, because the lines between the various values was quite marked (rather than all mingled as in my previous painting of it), which was what appealed to me in the first place. Done on A5 recycled paper, Superfine Staedler Black felt-tip pen.

I'm trying to decide if I like the top sketch, or the one below with more contrast added.

Below: the same sketch before I put the storm in.
