Some more mail art: this time a few sketches of a NZ Pied Shag. We see lots of these at Pauatahanui Inlet not far from our house.

Some more landscape sketches

I'm trying get some sense of fading evening light in some quick pen sketches. 7cm x 11cm sketchbook.

0.05 Staedler pen. Cows in the field at sunset.

Uniball micro pen. 

Looking up to Egmont lighthouse. On reflection the clouds look like waves... Might have to rethink how I do dark clouds.

Miniature landscape sketches

Some watercolour minatures (1 x 1.5 inch) for practising colour mixes etc. Using up scraps of Fabriano 300gsm rough watercolour paper.

11 x 7cm sketchbook. 0.05 Staedler fine liner. I still feel I am concentrating too much on trying to capture everything rather than looking at the design/composition and the play of lights of darks in the scene I am looking at. But its all practice.

Some quick watercolour sketches

I'm trying to decide whether to take my watercolours with me to the South Island, given that I'll only have very brief moments to sketch. I thought I'd try some quick miniature sketches for practice.
