More fabric mountains

I've made more fabric mountains for my son's train set. I covered them in the kiwiana range fabric from Spotlight. I''m now working on a fabric volcano.

Simplicity 2092 tshirt

I did my first tshirt, Simplicity 2092 from the Sew U Home Stretch Book (The Built by Wendy Guide to Sewing Knit Fabrics). I should have read the book before buying the fabric, as I mistakenly chose a knit (an interlock I think) with no spandex % in it = low stretch. I put a scoop neck on it, which was not in the book. My commercial tshirts are all very slightly shaped at the waist, and I think I'd alter the pattern like that for my next tshirt, as I also think the tshirt is a bit boxy (although again that might just be the interlock fabric). I'd also add an inch to the length. I'll definitely make more, but from better fabric.

Butterick 4549 View D

Here is View D of Butterick 4549 (B4549). I like it, and it was easy to make, but I'm not a big fan of side zips. I took a cm off the neckline, because when I made a test muslin of the pattern last year, the neckline seemed really high at the time, but I should have just left it as it was in the pattern.

Fabric mountains for our train set

We had some spare cuttings from our baby mattress which we recycled for the dining chairs. So I covered them in tree fabric for our son to use with his train set as a mountain range.

Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt

I had a go at the Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt pattern, which I bought at the terrific Wai Ariki Farm Park patchwork shop at Hanmer Springs. I loved the skirts that people showed on flickr etc, but I´m not too sure I like mine as much as I thought I would. It flares out a lot from the top of the hips (I´m not standing straight in the photo anyway), whereas I prefer a-line skirts to be slightly straighter. The pattern was easy to follow though.

Here is another baby pouch sling made from the www.mykarmababy.com website. They only take 5 mins to make and its great to have a spare in the car.

Christmas apron

This is the Sunday dinner apron from Heather Ross' Weekend Sewing book. I've sewn it in Xmas fabric to be a Xmas apron, which I will hopefully wear while baking my intended Stollens, Xmas cookies, etc. Anyway, its a good excuse for another apron, and kind of sets the mood for Christmas baking. The pattern was easy to follow. It seems a bit short though, and I think I sewed it slightly longer than the pattern said. I´d definitely add a few inches onto the length next time.
